ASTDD Head Start Oral Health Project
The majority of ASTDD funding has been awarded to states and territories for oral health forums resulting in action plans, and follow-up activities to implement the action plans. Requests for proposals are announced periodically when new funds become available. Reports from all state/territorial forums and follow-up activities can be accessed through the links in the sidebar (some may not contain all of the appendices submitted.) View a list of contacts for each initial grant and contacts for grants for follow-up activities.
State efforts in conducting Head Start/Early Head Start oral health forums and developing action plans have been recognized and described in the ASTDD Best Practice Approach Report - State Oral Health Plans and Collaborative Planning. The experiences and achievements of eight states and one territory are highlighted in the report to show how the forums and action plans served as an impetus for collaboration and communication among stakeholders to address Head Start oral health issues.
National professional association forum reports and executive summaries of regional forums can also be viewed. Evaluations of forum outcomes were done in two phases to cover the various funding cycles and are summarized in two reports.
