Team Maureen has developed a Dental HPV Education Program to educate dental professionals about the connection between HPV and oral, cervical, and other cancers. Team Maureen has designed and distributed toolkits for dental professionals to talk to patients about the HPV Vaccine as cancer prevention.
The Toolkit Includes:
- Tips for talking to patients for dentists
- Prescription referral pads and pens
- Office posters

Oropharyngeal Cancer and HPV: What's the Latest? - On March 24, the ASTDD Healthy Aging committee hosted an "Oropharyngeal Cancer and HPV: What's the Latest?" coffee break call. Dr. Mahnaz Fatahzadeh, DMD, MSD, from the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine presented information on the epidemiology, risk factors and clinical presentation of oral cancer and in particular HPV positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. Dr. Fatahzadeh also shared an article, Prevention & Early Detection of Oral Cancer: A Professional Responsibility, which is posted on the AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program website. AETC is the training arm of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.
